Spring Equinox 2006

Saturday evening arrive at the Two Oak campsite Glastonbury.Pitch Tents then into Glastonbury for a meal(Award winning chip shop).Sunday morning travelling to Avebury for the Midday celebrations with the Gorsedd of Caer Abiri, but first we must visit Silbury hill and W.Kennet longbarrow.

Looking from the view point at Silbury hill one speculates at the vastness of the task undertaken millennium years past, these tasks on all the ancient special places we have visited have the same vastness of undertaking.

Walking the long pathway up towards the longbarrow always looking back to Silbury hill, and imaging the location of Avebury in this sacred landscape on these downs.

Sunday afternoon joining with the Gorsedd of Caer Abiri, three of us became Bards of the Gorsedd of Caer Abriri.A beautiful celebration of Spring,as we shouted to bring on spring fully.

Monday a time to relax around Glastonbury, walking the Tor and some of us Shopping for a Star chart for Niks Birthday this day.Star chart found so the quest was fulfilled.Enjoying a wondrous meal back at camp we settled for the night ,no matter how short the sleep ready for our 3 am call to travel to the Henge for the sunrise.

3 am dark and cold the journey to the Henge was short and quiet as we travelled the blissful country side.Arriving at the crossroads near the Henge to warm ourselves by the grateful fire on the hill.Met with acquaintance whom we had met afor ,awaiting the powers that be to open the gates.Once inside the circle a wondrous celebration of Spring.(Images to view)
