Fonaby Stone, Caister,Lincolnshire. Access: With the kind help of Farmer. At one time there were three stones stacked on each, now here I saw only two - side by side. Legend has it that Christ was travelling on an ass through the field of Lincolnshire, when he spotted two men dragging a sack over the fields. Knowing his ass was hungry and knowing the sack contained grain, he asked the two farmers,what's int sack lads hoping they would spare some,the two men thinking this is a strange chap, answered tis only stones guv,Christ replyed "then stones be it" turning the sack into a shaped stone. |
